As of the 2026–2027 academic year, Turkish-Japanese Science and Technology University will admit students to four undergraduate programs within the Faculty of Engineering. These programs are:

These programs aim to restructure classical engineering education around interdisciplinary research, data-driven analysis, modeling, design, sustainability, and advanced technology development.
Each undergraduate program will have a quota of 20 students. This limited-quota approach has been adopted in order to increase student–faculty interaction, strengthen research-based learning, and carry out laboratory and project work at a higher level of quality.
Turkish-Japanese Science and Technology University is developing its graduate education within an interdisciplinary framework that focuses on the critical scientific and technological challenges facing both Türkiye and the world.

Yes. Turkish-Japanese Science and Technology University is a public university established by a special law within the framework of the strategic cooperation between the Republic of Türkiye and Japan. The University combines the character of a public university with an international academic cooperation model.
This structure positions TJU both within Türkiye's higher education system and as a distinctive cooperation platform with Japan in the fields of science, technology, research, and human resource development.
TJU's educational model is based on the concept of research-based engineering education. In this model, students are trained not merely as individuals who take courses, but as young researchers who define problems, collect data, perform analysis, develop models, and take an active role in laboratory and project processes.

This structure aims not only for students to earn a graduation diploma, but also to gain scientific thinking, engineering design, innovation, and a global working culture.
Undergraduate programs, excluding preparatory education, are designed within an intensive and flexible academic structure that will allow successful students to complete them in 3.5 years. In this model, the fall, spring, and summer semesters are evaluated in an integrated manner together with courses, laboratory work, applied training, research projects, and internship processes. In this way, it may be possible for academically strong students who can successfully keep up with their coursework to complete all the competencies required by the program in a shorter time.
English preparatory education is carried out in addition to the undergraduate study period. Students who successfully complete the preparatory program begin their undergraduate programs.
Study periods in graduate programs are determined according to the structure of the relevant program and the graduate education legislation in force. Detailed information on the duration, course load, proficiency, thesis, and graduation requirements for master's and doctoral programs is announced in the relevant program announcements.
The language of instruction for undergraduate programs at Turkish-Japanese Science and Technology University is English. English is regarded as a fundamental tool for accessing the global academic literature in engineering and science, working within international research teams, and carrying out joint projects with academic institutions in different countries, including Japan.
In addition, Japanese language education and Japanese culture are among the important components of the University's educational model. Japanese language education aims to help students become better acquainted with the Japanese academic, cultural, and industrial ecosystem, and to prepare them more strongly for possible research, internship, and exchange opportunities in Japan.
Yes. English preparatory education is compulsory in undergraduate programs. The preparatory program aims to bring students to a level at which they can follow engineering courses in English, read academic texts, write technical reports, give presentations, and communicate in international research environments.
Due to the intensive technical English and Japanese language education to be provided at Turkish-Japanese Science and Technology University, students will be subject to a compulsory one (1) year Foreign Language Preparatory Program.
Because of TJU's shared Turkish-Japanese identity, Japanese language education is of strategic importance for the academic and cultural development of students. Japanese language education is approached not merely as language teaching, but together with Japanese working culture, research discipline, technology ecosystem, and international cooperation capacity.
The scope, level, and place of Japanese courses within the program will be announced within the framework of the relevant academic regulations and curriculum.
Yes. Internships, applied education, and project-based learning occupy an important place in TJU's educational model. Students are expected to experience engineering problems not only at a theoretical level, but also in real sectoral and research environments.
Internship opportunities will be structured within the framework of collaborations to be developed with technology companies in Türkiye (Turkish and Japanese), research centers, public institutions, Japanese companies, and academic/research institutions in Japan.
Internship placements will be carried out based on the student's academic performance, language proficiency, the quota of the relevant institution, program compatibility, and cooperation protocols.
One of TJU's core objectives is to provide its students with opportunities for academic engagement with universities, research centers, and technology organizations in Japan. To this end, the University plans to develop a range of mobility opportunities, including student exchange programs, short-term research visits, summer schools, joint research projects, and graduate research mobility.
Student exchange and mobility opportunities are subject to agreements with partner institutions in Japan, as well as academic performance, language proficiency, the relevance of the proposed field of study or research, and available quotas. While studying or conducting research in Japan is an important objective of TJU, these opportunities cannot be guaranteed for every student and are not provided automatically.
Turkish-Japanese Science and Technology University is a state university established within the higher education system of the Republic of Türkiye. Therefore, the diplomas awarded by the University are higher education diplomas that are valid in Türkiye.
The recognition of a diploma in Japan for academic or professional purposes, however, depends on the assessment of the relevant institutions, universities, employers, professional bodies, and legal regulations in Japan. Accordingly, while the TJU diploma rests on a strong foundation of academic cooperation with Japan, it does not automatically confer professional authorization or licensure in Japan. Graduates must separately meet the recognition and admission requirements of the relevant institutions for graduate education, research, employment, or professional applications in Japan.
Note: Article 3 of the bilateral agreement (Diplomas and Certificates) contains the following statements:
- - TJU awards the academic degrees and certificates of the Republic of Türkiye at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels. The curricula and departments are recognized by both parties.
- - TJU will, where possible, consider awarding double diplomas and/or joint diplomas, together with Japanese universities, to students who graduate successfully.
Although the employment fields of graduates vary by program, TJU's engineering programs are focused on the critical technology fields of the future.
Computer Engineering graduates may work in the fields of artificial intelligence, data science, software engineering, computational modeling, cybersecurity, and digital systems.
Electrical-Electronics Engineering graduates may build careers in the fields of smart sensing systems, electronic design, embedded systems, communications, control systems, robotics, and autonomous technologies.
Environmental Engineering graduates may take on roles in the fields of climate change, environmental modeling, sustainability, water and waste management, environmental data analytics, and ecological system management.
Materials Science and Engineering graduates may work in the fields of advanced materials, aerospace systems, energy materials, nanotechnology, manufacturing technologies, and materials characterization.
Graduates may also continue their careers as researchers, academics, or R&D specialists through master's and doctoral studies.
Since TJU will admit students for the first time in the 2026–2027 academic year, there are no previous admission data regarding the University's minimum admission ranking or admission percentile. The admission ranking and percentile for the first intake will depend on applicants' preferences, program quotas, the University's national and international reputation, and the results of the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS).
At the same time, TJU's distinctive educational model, characterized by limited enrollment, English medium instruction, a research oriented approach, and Turkish-Japanese academic cooperation, together with its strong emphasis on Japanese language education and Japanese culture, is expected to make the University an attractive choice for academically successful students with an international outlook who aspire to careers in technology. Accordingly, TJU is expected to attract a highly qualified and competitive student body from its very first year.

The campus location offers an advantageous setting in terms of access to central areas of Ankara, public institutions, and the research and technology ecosystem.
The TJU campus is located in the Çankaya district of Ankara. The campus can be reached through various transportation options, including public transportation (there is a bus stop close to the university, and some walking will be required after getting off), minibuses, and private vehicles.
TJU regards the accommodation needs of students studying in Ankara as an important element of student life. In this context, it is envisaged that TJU students will be able to make priority use of the University Guest House, within the framework of available capacity and quotas. However, the Guest House is not a student dormitory and offers temporary, limited-capacity accommodation.
For this reason, students may also consider various other accommodation alternatives, such as public dormitories, private dormitories, student apartments, and housing options near the campus. The final choice and arrangement regarding accommodation will be shaped by the student's budget, transportation preferences, room-type expectations, the quotas of the relevant institutions, and available options.
The scholarship and student support system at TJU will be structured with an approach that encourages academic achievement, takes need-based support into account, and strengthens the research-focused educational model.

In order to meet the dining and nutrition needs of TJU students, our students will be able to make use of a shared cafeteria services within the campus, together with students from the University of Music and Fine Arts.
In addition to the cafeteria service, cafés located in different buildings will also contribute to students' daily nutrition, rest, and socializing needs. This way, it is aimed that students will have access to accessible, practical dining alternatives within campus life that respond to a variety of needs.
The cafeteria's operating hours, menus, pricing, and any student support, if applicable, will be announced separately by the University.

Students are expected to gain laboratory experience throughout their engineering education, take part in data collection and analysis processes, carry out design and modeling work, and play a role in research projects conducted by faculty members.
