Professor Mustafa Verşan Kök, Rector of the Turkish-Japanese University of Science and Technology (TJU), visited Tohoku University on 8 June 2026 and met with Executive Vice President Toshiya Ueki and Executive Vice President Masahiro Yamaguchi.
During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on strengthening future cooperation in education and research, as well as expanding academic exchanges between the two institutions. Rector Kök also visited the International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS), where he met with faculty members and learned about the institute's research activities. Discussions focused on earthquake disaster science research and the potential for future collaboration between TJU and IRIDeS.
The visit provided an opportunity to explore avenues for further cooperation between TJU and Tohoku University and to strengthen ties between the two institutions.
